A 25 page report with factual, supportive and anecdotal evidence has been prepared by volunteers in the community trust and it will be discussed at the March trust board meeting and the community council. Hopefully, after these meetings it will be issued to SBC etc for them to consider any actions necessary to help Coldstream cope with around 125 HGVs every day.

Trust volunteers, under strict risk assessment, have finally repaired and made-safe a slippery path at Jacob's Well woodland, with the permission of the land owner, Woodland Trust, Scotland. Spring is in the air, the snowdrops are out, the daffies are thinking about it and the woodland is very relaxing. Worth a visit.

The CAP should have been finalised by now but bad weather, congested meeting dates and the occasional bit of seasonal bad health has got in the way. The draft CAP is being discussed at a joint steering group (community council and community trust) on 28th February and then the group is meeting the appointed community consultant in mid March. After that, the CAP will head towards publication and it will be worth waiting for.

The trust tried to host its AGM in December but the meeting wasn't quorate. Each year at an AGM, a board of trustees has to be appointed otherwise the Trust becomes non-compliant with OSCR and could have to be folded. We are re-arranging the AGM for Wednesday 7th February at 7pm in the Leet Room and we hope there will be a good turnout.

The winter system for quotes is now open and a request for a quote can be registered on the energy switch button on the front page of this website. The process is explained on the front page too. Our kindred community body - Coldstream's Heritage Ltd - that saved the medieval Lennel Kirk has asked if we can post this message. "Our community interest body is hosting a coffee morning in the British Legion on Saturday 6th January at 10:30 am. We need funds to pay for insurance and the general upkeep of the conserved Lennel Kirk and we have high hopes to improve the grass-cutting at the old kirkyard. We are also in the process of submitting a planning application to install a visitor information board at the grassed area at the Braeheads, covering all sorts of local attractions, not just Lennel Kirk. We need help with raffle prizes and tasks and anyone willing to help please get in touch with Will Murray, Trevor Swan or Gerald Tait. Thanks"

The Big Community Energy Switch arrangement with another Trust and around 45 UK Councils is working well here in Castrum. BUT, BUT, BUT......households, please remember you are enjoying an annual contract with your current energy supplier and like house and car insurance you need to register for another quote each year. Otherwise your energy supplier will put you on an expensive standard tariff.
