Gary Bolton, the Woodland Trust Site Manager, along with his dog 'Rusty', has earmarked with red paint 17 trees to be felled at Jacob's Well in the next fortnight. The 17 are between the to-be-hidden electricity poles 50 metres from the bridge and the bridge. Obviously parts of our community were concerned that too many trees were blocking the view of the bridge and were perhaps impacting on HGV traffic safety, oncoming vehicles not being able to see each other coming. The 17 trees felled are added to the 23 trees felled in 2013, making 40 in number, helping our community's wishes and making the woodland probably healthier. Another obvious observation is that the 'Woodland' Trust is never going to completely fell a woodland especially when trees nearer the town end are stabilising the banking. Thanks Gary and 'Rusty'.

Just a reminder that the tickets for the evening will not be on sale till the end of September, by personal collection at the community centre or by paypal on this website. The interest in the evening appears high at present but there will be plenty room for everybody.

What a squad of wonderful community people in the local Gateway Association, especially for the summer flower displays, the Christmas Lights and the popular Coldstream Community News. The latest news in being awarded the Best Large Village in the Borders, for the flower displays, is testament to their hard work. Well done.

Development Group

Sep 02, 2017

Category:

With new trustees on the board, the Community Trust received a progress report on 34 project/initiatives that the development group has been involved in since 2014 when it was first set up. The report ended with recommendations and these were endorsed by the board. There is nothing confidential with the report and a copy is attached. Please comment if you so wish. An enormous thanks are extended to volunteers that have/will make things happen in the wider community.
