Acknowledged by the SBC Ward councillors and the Community Council, the Gateway Association and Community Trust have got together and began a survey of heavy lorries coming along our High Street, going north or south. Early indications are that during the day, we encounter one every 4-5 minutes and some of them are huge. Parish Councils at Hedgeley, Longframlington and Longhorsley are also conducting the survey, using paperwork supplied by Coldstream. Wooler, Milfield and Greenlaw are going to be asked to take part in the survey. Where this all takes us, remains to be seen but heavy lorries, occasionally entering pavements, has become a real problem for main streets.

The vast majority of the Qs are circulated to houses, businesses, holiday accommodation and charitable and voluntary organisations. They will be collected by volunteers in week commencing 26th June. If you wish to save the volunteers' shoe-leather, your Q can be deposited in the community centre letterbox, Moffat's the newsagent or the letterbox of 25, Duns Road. No Qs will be accepted after 9th July.
