It is being mooted by the Community Trust that this website and the one for the Community Centre, which does not run on a Content Management System (CMS), should be merged. The merger would mean closing down the Community Centre one and bringing its basic information into a section of this website.

The old kirk - built in 1120 and last used in 1705 - is being inspected today by a Consultant Architect who specialises in advising on the repair of Scheduled Monuments and Listed Buildings. Let's hope his report is promising, in that the kirk can be stabilised and we can get a grant to repair it.

A successful joint litter-pick involving Trust volunteers and Cornhill Parish Council was carried out this morning between Coldstream bridge and Cornhill with about 15 bags of litter being gathered. Another joint pick is planned for March. While volunteers love doing this, it calls into question people's morals and the need for effective national and local action on litter. Pricing shopping bags at 5p is not going to the answer. Anyone wishing to join the Coldstream litter-pickers, please telephone Liz at the Community Centre on 01890-883332.

Despite the wet weather, quite a few Coldstream residents attended the Trust's social in the community centre on Sunday afternoon. Residents signed up Trust membership, joined the 200 Club, volunteered for tasks like the Borders Walking Festival, viewed how weddings can be organised in the centre, looked at the Flodden Knit and Knatter, looked at the possibilities and usefulness of this website, learnt about the activities run by the centre and the community projects being progressed.

Is the brand/theme/exhibitions making the most for Coldstream? This is the question be posed by the Community Trust. Could it be enhanced, or could it not?The attached consultation paper is being distributed to as many individuals and groups as possible, asking for comments, and hoping for solid recommendations at the end of the exercise.

In the community centre, from 2:30pm to 5pm, the Community Trust is going to informally present in a non-boring way, its new charitable status, this website, community projects,and how Coldstream residents can help, but only if they want to. There will be nibbles and wine and a couples of hours or so of relaxation. Please come along.

Last week the popular Berwickshire News highlighted the need for some shopping to be done locally, for fear of our High Street etc shops struggling for trade. This is another plea for Coldstream residents to use the local shops to a certain extent and daily shopping products are available as well as potential Christmas presents.
