The Coldstream Community Council and the Coldstream Community Trust have agreed a joint-litter pick of the public areas of the town on Saturday 9 May, meeting at Henderson Park at 10:30am. Equipment will be provided but please bring gloves. Both organisations are basically fed up with litter being dropped every day and it's time for a change in attitude under 'Keep Coldstream Tidy'. The litter-pick is open to everyone, of all ages. Please come along but let us know you are attending.

Made by David Shepherd Graphics and Print and funded by various groups in the town, a Coldstream Guards banner is to installed near the Marriage House at the Coldstream bridge. The banner will commemorate the 200th anniversary on 18th June of the Battle of Waterloo in which the Coldstream Guards played a significant part in the victory against the French. It is hoped that visitors will stop in Coldstream and have a look at the Museum in the Market Square and other Coldstream Guards attractions. David is currently putting the finishing touches to the banner and it will displayed on this website as well.

Here is an e-mail from Gary Bolton of the Woodland Trust, Scotland which was received today. Please don't access the site on Monday and Tuesday next week. Hi Gerald, I have delayed thinning work as long as poss’ so that local people could enjoy the show of Daff’s over the Easter period. Our Daff’s up here in the frozen tundra have been showing well for the last 3 weeks. Contractor is planning to be onsite this coming Monday and Tuesday (13th&14th). He has strict instructions to ensure risk is minimised and will need to temporarily close sections of the path to ensure H&S of all. I have asked him to leave the timber stacked neatly and safely in small piles and deal with any snapped off branches or damaged trees down by the river. I thought I had marked most of them. Best to discourage locals away from site until operation is completed. Get back to me if you have any concerns during or post works. Thanks for doing the litter pick and clearing the area around the Well. Re: moving the path to show the façade- sounds a good idea. The walkway will be moved a metre downwards towards the river so that walkers can view the Well better. A different contract will be doing that. Will do when we repair the bridge and improve the steps in the summer. Best wishes Regards Gary

In second place with 83 also was captain Stewart Clark, these days as happy as a one-armed window cleaner with a wringer oot helper, Rory Paul and Adrian Price while in third spot with 82 was June Allan, John Hodge and Ian Bryce. A clinical psychologist was called in on Sunday to treat the devastated competitors in the Famous Grouse tournament. Despite the distraction of competitors 'Toothy Dickie' and North Lees Hodge, Coldstream's greatest singer, Rob Bell, and Coldstream's bread poultace, Gerald Tait, won with a net 66.5, playing off a handicap that could impact climate change. Devastated Bruce Lunn and tearful Bill Rutherford were a greetin' second with 69.5 while the two Taits - Doog and Dickie - finished with 70.5 nett. The two photos are:-

A trustee and a walking expert visited Galashiels last night to observe Gala's arrangements for the 2015 festival, which has been going in the Borders for over 20 years. 2016 is the first one for Coldstream, the first walking festival in the Borders to cross the border. Walk Leaders are required for the 28 walks during the week commencing 4th September 2016 to 11 September 2016. The event is expected to bring a lot of trade into the town and be a whole lot of fun. There's still time to get excited of course.
