Rannoch Daly - Chair Gerald Tait - Secretary Vera Baxter Hudson Hirsel representative Pat Fulton Chloe Macgregor Louise Patterson Reverend David Taverner Mary Murray There may be one or two other youths joining the panel. Potential grant applicants are welcome to approach any of the panel on advice but it would be best if applicants contacted either the Chair or the Secretary. We cannot help you fill out your forms but we can give you general advice. If any of the panel are related to grant applicants, or on the committee of any group applying, then they must declare an interest. However, the panel needs to be sensible in this regard, as people in Coldstream are involved in a lot of local organisations.

Maybe readers feel that the community should be kept informed of the proposed hydro project - from Tweed to Tweed - that could create energy, feed into the grid and raise money for the community centre. James Tweddle and his Community Trust sub-group have been disappointed with the consultant's feasibility report (grant funded by a government agency). The report is positive but has not provided nearly enough detail. James is complaining to the consultant and we should see an updated study shortly.

Given that Coldstream would be unlikely to access large external funding without being properly organised, the Community Council and our Trust have seen fit to create a Community Action Steering Group to focus on matters for improvement within Coldstream and district. There are six perceived issues - tourism and visitor footfall, retail, industry, families and young people, elderly and community capacity. The group has prepared a brief for an independent and experienced consultant to take the lead on the study, consult the community and come up with realistic ideas to resolve issues. Ten consultants have been invited to tender for the work and we are waiting for their submissions. 2016 will see the preferred consultant at work, completion of the study and his/her production of a Community Action Plan for Coldstream to progress, hopefully successfully in 2017.

Advice for Grant Applicants. Please read carefully the guidance for grant applications. Also on the grant application form, each question has guidance on the left-hand side. Therefore, directly answer the questions against the guidance and if you do this, you have a better chance of success. Also, on this round of funding the grant awards will not exceed £3,000 for each award.
